Carers and Me! at Progress Place: Building belonging for children, caregivers, and families

Carers and Me!

This spring, Prescott Group proudly launches Carers and Me!, a joyful new Saturday program at Progress Place that welcomes children of all ages and caregivers into an inclusive, supportive community designed for connection.

Running every Saturday, Carers and Me! offers families of all abilities a warm and welcoming place to come together through play, movement, music, sensory experiences, and creativity. Beyond the activities themselves, this program recognizes something equally vital: caregivers need community too.

Caregiving can often feel isolating, particularly for parents, grandparents, and support people navigating disability, developmental differences, or the everyday realities of raising children. Opportunities to connect with others who understand these experiences can be life-changing, helping caregivers build resilience, confidence, and a deeper sense of belonging.

Carers and Me! is designed to foster exactly that.

At Progress Place, caregivers can form meaningful friendships, share experiences, access child development expertise, and strengthen supportive peer networks while their children engage in joyful and inclusive programming. These connections help reduce isolation and create lasting community bonds that support whole-family wellbeing.

For children, the program offers opportunities to play, learn, and grow at their own pace in a welcoming environment where every child is valued. For caregivers, it provides a space to connect, recharge, and know they are not alone.

By bringing together children and caregivers in one inclusive space, Prescott Group is creating an intergenerational community rooted in empathy, joy, and mutual support.

Big thank you to our funding partner

Prescott Group extends sincere gratitude to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia for supporting this important initiative.

Their investment in family wellbeing, social connection, and community mental wellness is helping make Carers and Me! possible, ensuring more families have opportunities to build meaningful relationships and thrive together.

This program reflects Prescott Group’s broader mission of building belonging for everyone. At Progress Place, inclusion means more than participation — it means creating spaces where families can connect, flourish, and feel truly at home.

Through Carers and Me!, Prescott Group continues to strengthen community by ensuring children can flourish, caregivers can find support, and families can build lasting belonging — together.
