A new era for inclusion in downtown Halifax!
A transformative step toward building belonging
Halifax, NS – Last week, Prescott celebrated a monumental milestone—the groundbreaking of Progress Place, its brand-new downtown Halifax location. More than just a new address, this space represents a powerful step toward creating an inclusive, vibrant, and accessible community for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
“At the heart of Prescott’s mission is the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to connect, contribute, and thrive,” says Alice Evans, Chief Executive Officer of Prescott. “In a world that often feels disconnected, there is something truly powerful about being together—spending time face-to-face, sharing moments, and building real community. That is what this space is about. It’s more than just a building; it’s a place where connections are made, friendships grow, and opportunities come to life.”
A hub for inclusion in the heart of Halifax
Progress Place will serve as a central hub for social engagement, skill-building, and community integration, providing unparalleled opportunities for professional growth and personal development. Located in the heart of downtown Halifax, the new space ensures that Prescott participants have direct access to everything the city has to offer, including:
- Cultural landmarks like the Halifax Public Gardens, Central Library, and the Halifax Waterfront
- Public transit connections for greater independence
- Community partners who provide mentorship, employment, and enrichment opportunities
Progress Place isn’t just about services—it’s about belonging. It will be a space where people can explore their potential, develop their skills, and find meaningful ways to contribute to their community.
Building belonging: Prescott’s capital campaign
To bring Progress Place to life, Prescott is launching the building belonging capital campaign, a fundraising effort dedicated to creating a space where everyone is welcomed and valued.
The name Progress Place reflects the deep-rooted partnership between Prescott and the Canadian Progress Club Halifax, a long-standing supporter of both Prescott and The Club Inclusion. Their dedication to enriching lives is embedded in every step of this project.
“When the doors to Progress Place open later this year, the Canadian Progress Club Halifax will begin a new chapter in our mission to enhance lives for individuals with intellectual disabilities,” says Forest Kenney, President of the Canadian Progress Club Halifax. “This project is a testament to fifty years of dedication by our members, past and present. We are honored to collaborate with Prescott on a space that will uplift so many lives.”

“This partnership reflects our commitment to building spaces that serve a greater purpose, and we are honored to support Prescott in advancing accessibility and belonging in the heart of Halifax.”
