Club Inclusion summer camp 2024: A season of unforgettable fun and adventure

Summer 2024 at Club Inclusion was nothing short of spectacular! With seven action-packed weeks filled with exciting outings, engaging activities, and delightful special guests, this year’s camp was a resounding success. We were thrilled to welcome 92 amazing campers who brought their energy and enthusiasm to every moment of our summer adventure.

Thank you so much to our partners, Canadian Progress Club, Halifax, and Canadian Tire Jumpstart, for your support in making this possible. Progress Club has been with us for eight years now, helping to make sure that people with disabilities and our families are supported throughout the summer months.

Camp themes shape experiences

This year, campers had a hand in shaping the camp experience by choosing themes that truly resonated with them. Our themes for the summer included:

  • Wet and Wild
  • Retro Vibes
  • Explore Sports
  • Explore Sports Performance
  • Medieval Week
  • Halifax Adventure
  • Challenges Week

Camp explores our local community

Each week was thoughtfully programmed around these themes, ensuring a diverse and dynamic range of activities. Our favourite part of the camp experience is undoubtedly the accessible bus trips. This summer, we loved exploring the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) with trips to exciting locations like:

  • Ferry rides to Dartmouth
  • Swimming at Albro Lake
  • Steele Wheels Car Museum
  • The Halifax Commons
  • The Halifax Boardwalk
  • The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic
  • Shubie Wildlife Park
  • York Redoubt
  • Bowling at Bowlarama

We also enjoyed walking outings to local spots such as Flinn Park, Horseshoe Lake Park, Westmount Accessible Playground and Spray Park, and the Regatta Point Walkway. One of the highlights was a special Campfire BBQ hosted by a friend of the Club, adding a unique touch to our summer.

When we weren’t out exploring, we welcomed some fantastic special guests who brought their own flair to the camp. This year, we had the pleasure of hosting:

  • Coach Kyle for Boxing
  • Cask Karate
  • Glow Parties
  • DJ Ace
  • Halifax Cheer Elite
  • Halifax Rec Van
  • House of Eights

Incredible team made camp an memorable experience for everyone.

Throughout the summer, we were supported by an incredible team, including 20 1:1 support workers, 14 staff members, 10 special guests, and more than 40 drop-in visitors. We even had the joy of having one very special doggie join our camp community.

As summer came to a close, we couldn’t help but reflect on how quickly the weeks flew by. Camp is always such a whirlwind of fun and laughter, and we’re already looking forward to next year.

Evva Rudnikki, one of our dedicated support workers, perfectly captured the essence of the camp experience:

Here’s to another incredible summer and many more adventures to come!
