Admission Procedure
Step I | Applicant and sponsor tour facilities at 3430, 3480 & 3486 Prescott Street, and meet with Program Coordinator to discuss admission procedure and obtain application forms (Medical, Questionnaire and Release of Information Waiver). Admission is limited to adult persons twenty-one years of age and whose primary diagnosis is an intellectual disability. Priority will be given to applicants who reside within the former City of Halifax boundaries. |
Step II | Complete application forms and return. Applicant’s name is placed on a list of applicants for processing. |
Step III | Applicant is contacted to arrange a 1-2 week assessment placement. |
Step IV | Program Committee is informed of the applicant’s assessment progress, and recommendations for consideration. |
Step V | Applicant is advised in writing of their status. |
Step VI | If approved for probationary status, the applicant begins a three-month probationary placement when a position becomes available in the required program. The following summarizes the program options and training available to applicants. |
