Admission Procedure

Step IApplicant and sponsor tour facilities at 3430, 3480 & 3486 Prescott Street, and meet with Program Coordinator to discuss admission procedure and obtain application forms (Medical, Questionnaire and Release of Information Waiver). Admission is limited to adult persons twenty-one years of age and whose primary diagnosis is an intellectual disability. Priority will be given to applicants who reside within the former City of Halifax boundaries.
Step IIComplete application forms and return. Applicant’s name is placed on a list of applicants for processing.
Step IIIApplicant is contacted to arrange a 1-2 week assessment placement.
Step IVProgram Committee is informed of the applicant’s assessment progress, and recommendations for consideration.
Step VApplicant is advised in writing of their status.
Step VIIf approved for probationary status, the applicant begins a three-month probationary placement when a position becomes available in the required program. The following summarizes the program options and training available to applicants.
